Hazel Reid O’Leary (born May 17, 1937) was selected as President of her undergraduate alma mater, Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee (the 1st university in Nashville) in 2004. She was the seventh United States Secretary of Energy, from 1993 to 1997. As of 2009 she is the first and only woman and first and only African American to hold the position.

Dr. Brian Blake named Associate Dean at Notre Dame

Dr. Brian Blake has recently been named the Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives in the College of Engineering at Notre Dame! As the youngest African-American to be granted tenure in a computer science department and the first African-American department chair at Georgetown University, Blake received many honors and awards.
