HBCU Clips Challenge!
Welcome to The Black Scholars Index’s HBCU Clips Challenge!
On August 11, 2009, BSI officially put forth a challenge to all students who attend HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges & Universities). This challenge came as a result of traversing YOUTUBE, the infamous web video display tool/website. We noticed that most videos about HBCUs featured parties, homecomings, and/or hip-hop concerts. While there is absolutely NOTHING wrong with these videos, we want to challenge HBCU students to post creative and engaging videos about your school.
Tuskegee University
Fisk University
Spelman
Most of BSI’s staff have attended HBCUs and we KNOW alot more happens on these campuses than parties and celebrations. After all, we’ve featured some amazing Black Scholars from these same campuses all summer. We are also aware of the current academic statistics that HBCUs can boast! Afterall, we are extremely proud of you and your accomplishments thus far! So, we challenge you to raise the bar and post the ACADEMICALLY SUCCESSFUL side of your campus!
Guidelines:
- Please email YOUTUBE (or other) links to becounted@blackscholarsindex.com, along with the following:
- Name of videographer(s) and other participant(s)
- School, Majors, and Year of each participant
- A blurb about any exciting, insightful, and/or challenging moments had while creating video clip
- URL to video clip
- Feel free to visit your campus library for more historical information
- You may also use and BSI feature article
- The video clip can be no longer than 10 minutes (YOUTUBE rule)
- You may also use video clips that are not on YOUTUBE, but they must be web accessible and #5 still applies
- No inappropriate content
- Be as creative as possible!
Should you have any questions, feel free to contact us using the email address above.
We wish you much success and we look forward to viewing your video clips!
Just for fun, we’re sharing an interactive Google Map of all HBCUs in the US (brought to you by Today’s Drum).
