News from The Black Scholars Index™
Greetings Black Scholars!
A million thanks for joining The Black Scholars Index (BSI)!
We are thrilled to have you all* on board.
My name is Leshell Hatley [that’s me in the header above] and I am the Executive Director and Founder of Uplift, Inc., the sponsors of The Black Scholars Index! It’s been a month since our announcement of BSI and we are excited by the awesome response so far! This is our first official monthly e-newsletter so I wanted to use it to personally say Welcome and Thank You!

As you may have read, our is goal is to encourage African-American students to achieve academically and in life by giving them access to profound examples of Black Scholars who’ve made it! The youth we work with have some amazing career ambitions (i.e. forensic scientist, inventor, doctor, teacher, and more) and we hope to provide them with access to folks who have actually achieved at these careers and more. Thus, The Black Scholars Index!

Uplift, Inc. values WIN/WIN scenarios; so realizing that we could service and bring value directly to the Black Scholar community as well was a natural progression. As a result, the development of a host of online tools is underway and will be totally dedicated to you!
With that, we’d love to get your feedback so we can make these tools most effective and useful. For instance, what are your first impressions of the project, of the intended tools, and what color scheme would you prefer to see when we launch? A short questionnaire is available for sharing your thoughts with us. We look forward to hearing from you.
We’d also like to share an interactive map of where our current Black Scholars and remind you to invite even more to participate.
All subsequent enewsletters will include interesting facts about academia and other current and relevant news items.
Should you have any questions and/or additional thoughts, please contact us.
Thanks again for participating in this endeavor. We look forward to future exchanges.
-Leshell Hatley
